Anyone who owned a website can use Google Analytic, one of the powerful tools to analyse website visitor. Through Google Analytic the number and the location of the visitor are known thus it enable to further analyse to increase the number of visitors. Google Analytic is able to analyse as follows:
The source of the visitors either from the search engine, email, social media or ad.
The great number of visitors from a search engine is good, however, if it is too big means the other means such as social media is not fully utilised. Put target the number from the search engine is approximately 59-60%. By comparing the data with last 6 month ago, the trend of visitor traffic will be known. If the past 6 months the visitor from the search engine is higher and then from the social media is also catching up, it means you are on the right track.
The origin and traffic of visitors
Analise the landing page when the visitor coming to the website and compare with the bounce rate. Targeting bounce rate between 50%-80% if the website is blog or articles, for example giving the visitors information in the next pages related to the page they aim to. If there are the page that has bounce rate under 80%, you can analyse why this particular page has low bounce rate and duplicate to other pages. Doing this analysis to 20 other best pages of the website. For the online shop, the normal bounce rate is between 10-40%.
Analyse the visitors through smartphone and compares visitor through laptop/PC. Then analyse the visitor using the mobile device with the origin, either through the search engine, social media or others. Is there any difference between the visitor from laptop and mobile device? For example, whether the visitors from the laptop from the search engine and mobile device from the social media.
Using In-page analytics to analyse which part of the website that has lots of click by visitors, so it can be used to improved the website layout. For example, there is a menu that seldom clicked by the visitor, thus it can be located at the end so the visitors can navigate easily the part that they often clicked. Also, it can be used to improve pages that often visited by the visitor.
By opening “site speed” then “speed suggestion”, it will provide the advice to increase the loading speed of the website, where the website that fast loading will be better for attracting visitor and also increase the ranking in the search engine.
“Not provided” keyword is a keyword that is not shown by the google to protect the privacy of the visitors. For example, when they log on the Google website such as Gmail and doing the search it will not show in Google Analytics. To analyse “Not provided” data, you can analyse the data through filtering the data with the landing page, so you can guess the keyword. Even though the keyword from the visitors is unknown, the keyword leading to the page can be predicted with the certain page that landed many visitors. Based on the landing page, it can be predicted the keywords used by using Google Adwords Keyword planner. The keyword data can be used for creating a new page/article.
