Travelling has become a trending lifestyle in the current decade. More and more people have embraced it as means in making living while enjoying the travel lifestyle.  Some of them share their experience via blog or website and the writer called themselves travel bloggers or travel writers.  Often many questions arise how they can manage to keep on travelling without the traditional works? How can they make money to keep up with their travel? So here are the things that they do to keep up and even some have managed to have a decent lifestyle.

Apparently lots of the travel writers along they doing their travel, they also manage doing works or projects. These projects are able to generate money for them. Herewith are the examples of works that they do.

Travel writer documents their journey through books. The travel book not only about the stories, they also provide useful tips. This is not solely their only product. Based on the several travel writers experience, they can expand more products that they can offer to their audiences, such as training, mentoring and consulting. Some travel writers that have photography skills, they sell they pictures during their trip for the magazines, content media and so on. There is no limit in regards to the product that they can sell.

2. Paid marketing campaign

They work for different brands and tourism board. It may be involving sponsored trip and providing content for the client. They can put their content in the various media, social medias and including promoting through their own blog to be share to their readers.

3. Sponsored posts

This is quite straight forward. This is when a brand wants to promote their product or experience for any particular reason. Sponsored posts are basically like an advertisement that is written by travel writers. Sometimes these may come in the form of a sponsored social media update as well. Almost the same with above, they share the content through various media and channels.  It may also go further such as being the brand ambassador for certain product/brand.

4. Speaking at an event

This is usually occasionally for most travel writers, but still, it can generate money.

5. Managing social media

Some travel writers offer by companies to maintain social media takeover from various related brands in the certain period of time. To exemplify, getting hired by tourism boards and travel companies in the past to take over their Facebook page for a period of time, providing meaningful content regarding their services and experiences of the certain tour package.

6. Affiliate marketing

Most of the travel writer, consider this is the best way for generating money through their blog. The reason is because it only sets up once, and the income keeps coming in forever more. It’s passive income.  There is additional work by making sure of traffic flow and maintain audiences who trusts them, by providing quality content and honest judgement.

The work related to travel blog, for most travel writers it is not one-time attempt. Some of the travel writers confess that for the first 2 years, there’s no way they could’ve survived on solely their travel blog income alone. In fact, if they want to stay on the job, they need to think strategically and continuously as they need to maintain their source of income in many different forms. In order to do all of those, credentials and experiences to work on those projects are needed. Like all businesses, it takes the time to grow.
